The Construction (Health Safety & Welfare) Regulations requires safe systems of work to be employed for Hot Work which typically includes activities such as welding, and cutting.
The safe system will include the provision for a Hot Work Permit system to be operated and followed by all operatives / supervisors.
Consideration must be made with regards to the presence and removal of flammable materials. Adequate fire fighting equipment and fire watch arrangements must be available.
The Risk Assessment must fully describe the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to be used and to ensure there is no causation or additional hazards emanating from the Hot Work.
All staff related with the Hot Work process must be competent. i.e. welders, fire marshals.
