Fire Safety Signs

Exit signs guide the person to the nearest protected route and final exit and they need to be understood regardless of language.

The ISO 7010 will shortly become the (European Norm) EN 7010 which means that the ISO standard will be changing from one which is an international ‘best practice’ to one which is recognised and written into as part of European Law. This will mean that it will become a legal obligation to comply with the standards in the UK.

If you are a new organisation or you are replacing your current signage it is recommended that you ensure the signs comply with the ISO 7010 standard so that they don’t become out of date once the standards become part of the British standards. If you are using the current EEC directive signs then you should look to replace these with ISO 7010 compliant signs however, it is advisable to avoid any ambiguity by not having a combination of both sign types.
